The Heart of Miss Mountain Empire pageant is a fundraiser for the Miss Mountain Empire Scholarship Organization, a local preliminary to the Miss Virginia and Miss America Scholarship pageants.
Winners of the Heart of Miss Mountain Empire pageant have their own photo shoot, their own autograph cards, and lots of appearances with the Miss Mountain Empire titleholders and fellow Heart queens.
Being a Heart of Miss Mountain Empire queen is a great honor and gives an opportunity to be a part of an amazing organization!

The Miss Mountain Empire Scholarship Organization was founded in 2007 by Elizabeth Roberts Ballard, a Saltville native, for the purpose of giving young women of Southwest Virginia the opportunity to earn scholarships towards their educational goals, a way to inform people of their personal platforms or community service projects, gain interview and social skills while making friends and lifelong memories along the way.
The Miss Mountain Empire Scholarship Organization is a local preliminary to the Miss Virginia and Miss America Scholarship Organizations. The Miss America Organization, with its state and local affiliates, is the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women.
The Miss Mountain Empire Scholarship Organization is a not-for-profit scholarship program whose purpose is to award scholarships to deserving young women ages 17 to 24 years old and provide a forum for their community service. Our organization includes three additional programs that serve as building blocks for the future of the Miss Mountain Empire Scholarship Organization. Those programs are our Miss Mountain Empire’s Outstanding Teen (ages 13-17), Miss Mountain Empire’s Outstanding Preteen (ages 9-12) and Miss Mountain Empire’s Princess (ages 6-9). In addition, we also have the Heart of Miss Mountain Empire pageant, which is one of our annual fundraisers that serves as both a mentor and support system for our entire organization.
